5 Reasons I Wrote My First Book.
My first published book The Cat Mouse Adventure to Cheese Paradise is a fun and heart-warming story about a scaredy cat, who finds a friend in a mouse before going on a great adventure to the Cheese Paradise. The story aims to bring fun and enjoyment to all.
As a new author, the story possibilities were endless. The time, commitment and passion needed to get the story finished are boundless, albeit fun. So, having finally put my pen down, I reflected on the 12-month journey and came up with five reasons why I wrote my first published story:
1. My cat called George
I grew up with cats and my last cat was a ginger cat called George. He was a great friend, always following me around and ending up either on my bed or next to me somewhere.

However, when comparing him to other cats I’ve had, he was not the most adventurous. He was a big Scardy Cat never venturing far. His most menacing moments were when he saw a bird outside, he would poke his head just enough through the catflap and let out a small meow sound.
Now what do you think? Is Charlie from The Cat Mouse Adventure to Cheese Paradise based on George? Reach out to me and let me know.
2. Gardens
Some of my favourite places in the world are Gardens. Where I grew up in London, we had a lovely long thin Garden, that I had endless adventures in, with my sister, cousins and friends. We lived in a small terraced house, where all the houses and gardens were attached. This meant when I looked out of the back window, I could see all the gardens split by different colour fences and trees.
I would see cats, birds and foxes jumping between fences with no boundaries. I always wondered what great adventures they had to get up when I had to go to school.
3. The world is full of amazing colours and adventures- why be like everyone else?
A central theme of The Cat Mouse Adventure to Cheese Paradise is exploring our perceived roles and what we should be like, rather than being who we are. A scene in the book is when Murry the Mouse tries to convince Charlie to join him on the adventure to Cheese Paradise. He says:

It’s hard growing up and trying to fit in. Humans want to feel secure and be part of a group, so we tend to fall into a certain role. However, what I believe is that we are all so beautifully unique and that there is always a place or group of friends that will fit you perfectly.
4. Facing Your Fears
Life is full of many scary things. Facing them is a big part of growing up.
We have all been there when you have to do something you don’t want to do. You are filled with nerves and dread- what if it all goes wrong?
Charlie in The Cat Mouse Adventure to Cheese Paradise wanted to stay in the comfort of his bush. Yet there was a new world out there once he ventured from his hiding spot after meeting Murry.

As I get older, I see being scared as a friend you should get to know. The more used being scared you are the easier it gets. I recently moved to Spain, leaving the comfort of my home. At first, it was all scary, but then after a while, it became normal just like nothing happened.
5. Friendship
Lastly, I have been fortunate to have had great friends. I still have friends from school who are always there with a smile if you need them.
There are always good people in this world to help and encourage you. And I believe having good friends is the key to a happy life. For Charlie in The Cat Mouse Adventure to Cheese Paradise, he finds a friend in a mouse and his world is never the same again.
For me, I hope to have found some friends in my readers, and hopefully, we can go on many more adventures together.
